What to pin as a designer?

What to post on Pinterest as a designer? What boards to create? What keywords to use? I got this exact question the other day from someone starting a web design business. Want to find out what my answer was? Then keep on reading!

“I don’t know”

Before you think to yourself “this girl is just wasting my time” and run away, please give me a second to explain.

If we don’t know each other yet, then you probably don’t know that as a Pinterest strategist, I work with a lot of brand and website designers. In fact, more than half of my clients fit into this category (the rest are wedding photographers if anyone was wondering). So how is it possible that I don't know the answer to that question?

It is because the answer depends completely on your business, your services, your products, your target market, and your goals for the future.

Every business needs a unique marketing strategy that works for them

Just because half of my Pinterest clients are designers, that doesn't mean that I just copy-paste everything. It doesn't mean that I pin the same type of content for them. It doesn't mean that I created the exact same list of boards for them. And it also doesn't mean that I'm using the same keywords for all of them.

Since each of their businesses is unique, their Pinterest marketing strategy should be unique too. That's why if you want to get answers to these questions yourself, it will mean that we will have to sit down for an hour and talk. It means that I will have to ask you a bunch of questions. It means that we will have to do a Strategy Workshop together.

So even though the questions may seem very straightforward and easy to answer, the reality is much more complex than that.
