10 wedding photography blog ideas that will get you in front of your potential clients

Blogging - you either love it or hate it. No matter which group you are a part of, having an active wedding photography blog can do wonders for your wedding photography business. But, the problem usually appears when you don't know what to write about. That's why I'll share with you 10 blog post ideas for your wedding photography blog that will surely get you discovered by your potential clients.

No more "meh" blog posts

What is the difference between a Great Blog Post and a "Meh" one? The first one is actually created with a specific goal in mind: to attract your dream clients. The other one exists just for the sake of existing. Let me be a little bit more clear. The "Meh" Blog Posts usually come to life when you have no clue what to write about. You smash your head into a wall for about half an hour and then just run with the first idea that comes to you. On the other hand, when you write a Great Blog Post, you are creating content that you know your brides and grooms are interested in. Content that they will find helpful and that will be able to position you as someone who knows what they are doing.

Can't all of the blog posts get you "discovered" by your potential clients?

Yes and no. Personally, I'm breaking down blog posts into 3 categories:

  • the ones that get you and your work discovered by your potential clients

  • the ones that position you as an expert in your field and

  • the ones that help you build a connection with your audience.

I'm going deeper about these 3 categories in my blogging guide for wedding photographers (that's also full of a lot of other blogging tips), but to keep this blog post short, let me just say that yes, every blog post that you write and publish can get you discovered by your potential clients online, but you just have a better chance with some than you do with the others.

For example, if you write a pretty general blog post (How much do wedding photographers cost), you will most likely have to face a lot of competition. Because there are already a lot of other articles and blog posts written on this topic, your blog post will get only a handful of clicks (if any). On the other hand, if you get more specific (How much do wedding photographers cost in San Francisco), then you have a better chance of getting your blog on the first page of Google search results so that your potential client can actually find it.
